Takes time: Surgical scars take time to heal. Usually 1 wk sutures are removed and the redness and swelling start to improve. By 6 wks there should be considerable improvement in scar thickness, redness and swelling. Noses can take up to 6 months to show major improvements depending on the flap used. All scars take up to 15 months to be completely healed. Furthermore, smoking can slow and lead to poor healing
