Yes: Gargle with listerine without alcohol several times per day. Use a saline nose spray. If not better in a few days see your doctor. Usually with strep throat you will have swollen tonsils and white or yellow spots on them. See your doctor for a definitive diagnosis.

Symptoms overlap: Although the majority of sore throats are viral, strep throat will present in an identical way. Testing is the only way to know for sure. You do have a week or so to start treatment to prevent the long term complications of strep. During that week you may be spreading it to your family.
