Good question: Uveitis, a sterile inflammation of the interior of the eye, is of unknown origin. While the majority of cases occur only once in someones life, a smaller group has them recurrently. Occasionally they are associated with GI and arthritic disorders, but most are isolated. Since we do not know the actual trigger, we don't know why they keep coming back. Get it treated regularly to prevent problems.
