Dr. Theodore Davantzis answered

Specializes in Dentistry

Periodontist: If you are really, really determined to correct the neglect, then make an appointment with a local periodontist. He/she will examine the damage and recommend a course of treatment. Follow it and your gums and bone will become healthier. You cannot do this alone.

See specialist: See the Periodontist for evaluation and treatment options. They are the experts in gum/bone tissues. Good for you to get back on track. Good Luck.

Periodontal surgery: Advanced bone loss may be corrected only with reconstructive periodontal osseous surgery. But more importantly is that before having any treatment you should have a proper diagnosis to determine why you lost gum and bone tissue around your teeth? See your dentist for evaluation, x-rays and treatment or referral to a specialist.
