Allergy: Any medication has the potential of causing an allergic reaction. Whether eye drops or oral medication, a reaction that includes swelling of the throat is potentially very serious and requires immediate medical evaluation.

Could be any: An allergic reaction can occur with any of the ingredients in the eyedrop that caused the problem. If possible, take the bottle to your doctor for a discussion of this.
