Extraction: With removal of a tooth there may be a sac of abscessed tissue that usually comes out with the root. Also for teeth that have been infected a long time there will be granulation tissue that will prolong bleeding and slow healing that the dentist will attempt to remove. There is always bacteria in the mouth. Too much scraping can interfere with healing. The hole takes a long time to fill in.
