Can you tell me if the metal bands around your molars suppose to cut your tongue up?

Possibly: I am assuming that you have braces with bands around the molars. Sometimes the molar band needs to be adapted to the top part of the tooth a bit better, but if the molar is "short" some times the band needs a bit of extra length for retention factors. Have your dentist or orthodontist check the band to see if it is "high" if not, they will supply string wax to cover the sharp band and protect.

Qualified no: Brand new braces may take some getting used to. Until then, take advil (ibuprofen) (follow pkg directions), rinse w salt water, dab orabase-b onto sore spots, cover "sticker" w orthodontic wax. Most important, call the dentist or (hopefully) orthodontist who placed the appliances and say, "help!".
