Active breathing: Most important is to first have a thorough medical check up that there is not an underlying serious medical condition. Our gut, brain and stress hormones are very connected. Important to practice DAILY stress reduction techniques - so that you can call them directly into play when you feel stressed. Eg. deep breathing 4 seconds in through nose, 8 seconds out through mouth, 4-7-8 breath etc.

Merits an assessment: For a first pain, one can try a 14 day course of a PPI (protein pump inhibitor) such as omeprazole 20-40mg each morning. For recurrence of pain, one should see their family doc or a GI (gastroenterology) doc for an accurate diagnosis and decision about an endoscopic evaluation. A test for H. pylori bacterium is also important if symptoms are from the stomach. Stress must be also be addressed.
