Skin on tongue: Impossible to say what the problem is without more information and a visual exam. It could be an infection, due to trauma, a vitamin deficiency, an allergy. You need to have this examined by a dentist or an oral surgeon.

See Oral Surgeon: Given the same symptoms that you describe, i would not think that prescribing iron tablets would be the solution. This requires a medical history and personal clinical examination. I would recommend that you see an oral surgeon for a definitive diagnosis and proper treatment.
