Yes: Your muscles and joints all work differently and can handle different levels of activity. As you don't walk on your arms, lifting weights may cause soreness more quickly than lower extremity strengthening. They are designed for daily use--so use them ! walk / run / stretch / exercise / strengthen !

A 26-year-old member asked:

Is it normal to have pelvic pain in the 2nd trimester?

Dr. Patrick Weix

Yes: I hate to call pain "normal" but it is very common. If the pain is accompanied by vaginal bleeding, you should contact your doctor right away. Some causes of pelvic pain are treatable: such as bladder infections, low back pain, etc. Some seem to be related to pelvic pressure due to vascular congestion or stretching of scar tissue (adhesions) from previous surgeries.

Circular muscle: The lining of the vagina(epithelium) is surrounded by circular muscle that can contract around objects and a potential space that can expand as well. Expansion projects include childbirth, sex and tampon placement.

Possibly: They are of two types. The leiomyoma occurs in the skin or gut but the common form is the uterine fibroid. Rhabdomyomas are rare tumors of muscles, they occur in childhood and often become malignant assuming this is a uterine fibroid, if it were in the proper anatomic location it could cause vascular compromise, nerve compression, pelvic cramping or even a referred pain pattern.

Ask your MD: Assuming you are taking your Lipitor (atorvastatin) for primary prevention(you have high cholesterol)and Lisinopril for htn, it may be possible.A healthful diet and exercise can eliminate some of the risk factors that predispose us to these conditions.Even if you can't get rid of the meds, these healthy practices will yield tremendous benefits.See some recent exercise updates at www.Whatscookingwithdoc.Com.

How can I prevent gluteal and hip pain if I sit all day?

Several suggestions: Evaluate your routine to determine how long it takes before the discomfort begins. This will help you determine when to stand and stretch, do isometric exercises, or a combination of both. Evaluate your chair and if possible, obtain one that has at least three adjustment. Seat height, armrest, and lumbar.
