What kind of cancer is a pleomorphic xanthoastrocytoma?

Brain neoplasm.: This is a brain neoplasm that occurs more commonly in children and teenagers. They arise from the cerebral hemispheres (upper most sections) and in contact with the leptomeninges. They are formed through the mitosis of astrocytes.

Generally Benign: This is a neoplasm of the brain that generally affects children and teenagers. They are considered generally benign and are classified as grade 2 astrocytomas. They develop from astrocytes which are cells of our brains. They are usually slow growing and often present with sudden onset of seizures due to pressure in the brain. Very rarely do these tumors undergo malignant transformation.

The word is: Greek meaning "muliple varying shapes", and in descriptice light pathology, usually conveyed poorly differentiated, at risk for metastasis, such as pleomorphic liposarcomas were always grade 3-4.
