Benign tumor: Pleomorphic adenoma is a benign tumor of salivary glands . It is made up of different cell types and hence the designation pleomorphic which means variable. Presents as swelling in or around the mouth. Treatment is to completely excise so that it won't recur

Little to it: The anatomic pathology of pleomorphic adenoma is amazingly complex, and we are learning a bit about its molecular biology. The lesions are benign but locally destructive, especially endangering the facial nerve if in the parotid. Wide excision is required as the lesion sends out projections. Around 1% is the site of origin for a real cancer.

For a Starter:: "Pleomorphic adenoma is a common benign salivary gland tumor characterised by neoplastic proliferation of parenchymatous glandular cells along with myoepithelial components, having a malignant potentiality. It is the most common type of salivary gland tumor and the most common tumor of the parotid gland. The mainstay of the treatment is surgical resection," maybe with radiation afterwards(depends)
