In excess: One or two alcoholic drinks per day should be your maximum if you are on blood pressure medications. A drink is considered 1oz of liquor, 8oz of wine or 12oz of beer.

Can be: Any alcohol can be a problem for people with high blood pressure. In and of itself, alcohol can elevate blood pressure levels. Alcohol can also cause other health issues, and can interact with some medications. However, it is most important that you discuss this with your physician to see what your risks might be.
