Yes: The area that is scarred does not work and help in the pumping and the heart gets weaker. The scarred tissue also impedes the contraction and makes the pumping even weaker, and it does not conduct electrical current like the normal muscles. The weaker heart, puts out less blood that goes in the heart, hence, the heart failure.
