A member asked:

When someone gets angina for a few minutes due to coronary disease, does it scar the heart or damage it? or is it just heart attacks that damage muscle.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Probably Not: Brief episodes of angina likely do not cause any measurable heart damage. They are, however, a very important warning sign and should not be ignored. If the frequency/duration/severity of anginal attacks is increasing or if someone has new onset angina that hasn't been evaluated yet, then it is important to see a doctor asap.
