Avoid if possible.: The axillary region is home to a dense array of blood vessels and nerves that supply the arms. Many other structures, such as lymph channels, muscles, tendons run through the axilla as well, with minimal protection from bones. Prolonged or extreme pressures on these structures could compromise blood flow to the arms and nerves can be stretched. Shoulder dislocations can also happen.
