Breast cancer: If the left axillary lymph node is positive for cancer and if the pathology ( morphology and genetic profile of the lymph node mets ) are similar to the right breast cancer-then likely it is a stage IV disease. However , if it is completely different than the primary cancer on the right breast- it could be a second primary- then really have to check the left breast. Please d/w md and pathologist.

Hard to tell: The best person to stage the disease is probably the oncologist, and he/she needs access to all of the pertinent information, including clinical, radiologic and pathologic findings. It is critical that there is open communication amongst the appropriate healthcare providers to assist in properly staging the disease.
