If you need to lose weight, be sure to do so slowly (no more than 1 to 2 pounds a week).Quick weight loss from crash diets, surgery, or medicine increases inflammation and scarring in your liver. Control diabetes and metabolic syndrome Stop or cut back on drinking alcohol. Exercise regularly. See your PCP for a plan for the above.

Yes: Fatty liver can come in many different forms. In its most benign form, the liver enzymes can be normal and it may only be discovered as an incidental finding on ultrasound. When it gets more severe, then it is called NASH - nonalcoholic steatohepatitis. In this case, the liver enzymes are usually abnormal by then.
