Yes: Orajel is only a topical benzocaine, which numbs the area and helps alleviate the pain. It does not cure the cold sores. It just make the cold sores less painful and easier to deal with. Cold sore is viral, and should go away on its own in 3-5 days, as long as no bacterial superinfection. Keep the area clean.
