Allergy shots: I view allergy shot side effects in 2 categories: 1. local reactions and 2. systemic reactions. Systemic reactions can be life threatening and are manifested by 2 or more organs involved at the same time (e.g. generalized hives + asthma flare). Treatment is with epinephrine, 911, and discuss discontinuing treatment. Local reactions can be treated with antihistamines, cold packs (1st 48hrs).
