A member asked:

Can you tell me, are benzodyazepines generalized for seizures or are they use for other medical issues as well?

Other conditions: Benzodiazapines may be used in status epilepticus, but not the best for ongoing seizure control, and more often are used for anxiety, agitation, and non-epileptic conditions. Best, for epilepsy, are some of the newer anti-epileptic drugs, which seem to last longer and have smoother effects.

See below: Benzodiazepines are used to treat many medical and psychological conditions, including but not limited to, restless legs syndrome, panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, among other disorders. But it should only be used as per your prescribing doctor's recommendations and guidelines. They carry many side effects and can worsen other disorders, such as sleep apnea.
