Many signs: Cartilage is needed for normal joint motion. Damage to cartilage may lead to crepitation, pain, swelling, inflammation, and limitation of motion of the affected joint. If you have injury to the cartilage, you may develop arthritic pain when the joint is put through a range of motion.
