RICE: Acutely, rest , ice , compression and elevation is appropriate. Taking a NSAID ( ibuprofen) is reasonable for a couple of days. After this if swelling and pain persist or worsen see your pcp . If he/ she thinks it appropriate you may need a referral to an orthopedic surgeon.Pt, bracing etc may be recommended( x-rays also if not already done ) best if luck!

Many possibilities: R.I.C.E. Rest, ice, compression, elevation. Immobilization with a splint or brace may be of benefit in the initial phase of recovery. Oral anti-inflammatory medication may help with the pain and swelling. Once improved, mobilization and physical therapy can help restore strength and function. Healing times may vary.
