COULD BE NORMAL: If you had surgery and they repaired the meniscus - it may look "displaced" on MRI - but that may be on purpose due to the surgical repair... I would discuss with orthopedist re; what did they do to your meniscus during surgery - could this be an "expected" finding - or "unexpected".

Displaced = moved: The word displaced means that a structure is moved from it's normal position. Fractures can be displaced. Torn portions of meniscus can be displaced, meaning moved from its original position. A medial meniscus root can be displaced if it is torn, ie no longer tethered in the correct position.

Injury: Most likely for a meniscal root to be displaced a tear of the meniscus has occured.
