Root tear: Meniscus root tear is a tear at the back attachment. It renders the entire meniscus nonfunctional and should be repaired in those without much arthritis.

Root Tear=Displaceme: A tear of the meniscal root leads to displacement of the meniscus. 2 of the main attachments of the meniscus are at the root both in the front and back up.
