Safe: The penicillins, unless you're allergic, are some of the safest, most effective, and most well studied drugs, even in pregnancy. I wouldn't do anything differently and save stronger drugs for more serious conditions.

The safest: Penicillins (amoxicillin is one of them) are one of the safest antibiotics you can take in pregnancy. It's my first line antibiotic as well. Rest assured, you're in good hands.
