Esophagitis: Burning in the center of your chest is "heartburn" = acid from the stomach coming up into the esophagus, which has no natural protection from stomach acid. Prolonged acid exposure can cause inflammation, ulcers, damage, scarring, narrowing, or even cancer (but unlikely at age 28). Do not ignore these symptoms, and see md soon! good luck!
