140/90: Atenolol reduces the risk of second heart attack in those who have had one. For primary prevention, it reduces the risk of stroke and heart attack in people with elevated blood pressure. If your BP is averaging >140/90, you should be on some form of treatment. Atenolol is one of many good treatments.
