A 71-year-old female asked:
why do my legs hurt when i cross them?

Could: Be hip pain referred towards your knees. Do you have arthritis in the hips or any peripheral vascular disease that could be exacerbated by crossing your legs. There are a lot of questions i would like to ask before actually examining you which makes me encourage you to see your doctor if the pain is significant.

A 24-year-old member asked:
Why do my legs hurt before or after I get sick?

Dr. Paul Cohen answered

Normal for you...: Everybodys' body is different; if this is what normally occurs when you get sick(and you have no other health issues) then i would not look into it further; just accept this as part of "you". If not then please visit with your primary care physician and the two of you can explore this further. Best of luck.

A 56-year-old member asked:
I am cold all the time and my legs hurt all the time?

Dr. Ed Friedlander answered

Need to be seen: Cold intolerance raises the serious possibility of hypothyroidism, which only a physician can diagnose. A second possibility is mild congestive heart failure, with too little blood reading the skin. Pain in the legs can be anything from a neuropathy to serious vascular disease (gangrene risk) to metabolic bone disease.

Neuropathy: It sounds like your suffering from a peripheral neuropathy. This could be due to something as simple as a vitamin deficiency or as complicated as an immune neuropathy. Most neuropathies are treatable, including the cost when it is immune mediated. I agree that you need to see a neurologist to have the appropriate studies to determine the proper treatment.

Don't worry: There can be multiple causes, eg disc problem in back, statin meds, poor gait/ posture, lyme disease. While getting worked up, consider a psychiatrist who might help with your irrational fears. Depression and anxiety can cause unexplained pain syndromes.
