Consider: There are only a few reasons for ENT involvement, which suggests the need to surgically remove the tonsils. One is for frequent strep infections.2 in a season is not enough according to current guidelines.2nd is sleep apnea demonstrated by persistant snoring, gagging and choking while sleeping.3rd may be continuing difficulty swallowing, choking while eating.Be more specific with the pediatrician.

Age? symptoms ?: Tonsils grow faster than kids do until about 8yo before stabalizing, then the kid grows faster and tonsils get relatively smaller. By 7-8 they are usually snoring some at night and tonsil infections become worrisome to most.Kids with long pauses in snoring at night, problems staying awake during day activities, have 5+ infections over 2 yrs all need an ENT eval.Big tonsils, not so much.
