Need evaluation: Acute pain and swelling 7 months after a fracture is not normal. Needs exam to rule out infection or re-injury.

Not usually, but may: Part of this depends on how the facial fracture was treated. if surgery and plating was required, swelling may take longer to resolve. Also, you would need to consider possible infection of the hardware as a cause for persistent swelling. But even without repair, I have seen patients with persistent bruising and swelling for 6 months or more. The face can take a while to release its swelling.
