Hypertrophic scar: Hypertrophic scars do not get better by themselves. They require advanced techniques. See a specialist who has a special interest in treating them.

Possible: All scars get thicker before they mature. Normal ranges from 6 weeks to six months of building, and most are soft (mature) by 12-24 months.
