Why aren't silver-coated endotracheal tubes typically used?

Interesting idea: But, the endotracheal/bronchial environment is different from the endovascular one. I have never heard of the et tube being colonized and the source of hosp-acq / vent-acq pna or other resp problems--it is usually within the vent circuit (so maybe line that with silver). Also, I have not seen any studies as yet to see what, if any, benefit the silver tube might have over plain.
