A member asked:

My daughter has eaten a small amount of raw chicken - what should i do?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Observe: The main concern for ingesting raw chicken would be a bacterial infection like salmonella. It is impossible to predict whether a child would get sick. I would not prophylactically treat, but instead would observe for any concerning GI symptoms (usually occurs within 6-72 hours) such as diarrhea, vomiting, blood in the stool, abdominal pain. Headaches or fever can also occur.
