Daughter , 10 yrs old, had chicken pix shot. today is is red, swollen, and hot to the touch. what should i do for it?

Ice: I think you mean chicken pox shot...Lol...Just ice the area...As long as there is no rash on the rest of the body she should be fine.

Common side effect..: Local reaction at the injection site occurs in about 20% of patients. Usually this goes away in 1-2 days. Things to try: (1) cold pack - for initial pain or tenderness at the injection site, apply a cold pack or ice in a wet washcloth to the area for 20 minutes each hour as needed. (2) pain medicine - give Acetaminophen (e.g., tylenol) or Ibuprofen by mouth. Do not give aspirin.
