Pulsing pain: Throbbing or pulsating pain in teeth is most often associated with an irriversibly inflamed nerve of a tooth requiring root canal therapy. See your dentist as soon as possibly because these situations are usually like time bombs ready to explode, causing severe pain, not responsive to pain medication.

Pulsating tooth: All teeth have a nerve and blood supply to them that enters through the tip of the root. Anything that traumatizes that area, clenching, grinding , a blow to the jaw, etc may have a negative affect on the tooth causing the death of the tooth due to strangulation of the blood and nerve supply to the tooth. The "pulsing butterfly sensation" may be an indication that this is the case. Seek tx asap.
