Service: Bad habits are best broken with equivalent good habits. A spiritual context, like god or nature, helps also. Positive thinking and service of some kind to others are ways of taking attention off yourself and occupying you with socially redeeming activity. Behavior you have associated with the "bad" habit is best avoided if possible. Exercise and diet are other positive endeavors that help.
