Medical Care: I think a 36 year history of a medical problem deserves an in person examination with a good primary care medical specialist. The simple answer to your question is that yes, of course, anxiety can cause the symptoms you describe. But, you are an adult with a significant history of pain and symptoms. It is time for a thorough exam with testing and perhaps specialist evaluation. Not an er visit.
