Yes, but no: There are the latest ssris which came to the market right about same time. In terms of their effectiveness, it really counts on how patient, as an individual, responds to either one of them. A metaphor is some like apple but others like orange. One might react to Luvox but not Lexapro (escitalopram) and vice versa.

Probably...: If you are referring to how well it helps with anxiety and ocd, i think many would agree with that. However, the only way you can really know how well any antidepressant works is to try it yourself and see how it works for you personally. Most people tolerate it very well especially if, like with any med, it is started at a low dose (even at 5mg) and increased gradually.

Not necessarily.: The answer would depend on the condition it is prescribed for. Zoloft has been used for ocd as much as Luvox and they are both ssris. Lexapro , paxil, (paroxetine) are all ssris and also approved for ocd. Luvox , however does not alleviate depression or anxiety like the rest.
