Which works better for negative intrusive thoughts caused by ocd lexapro (escitalopram) or luvox but also causes less weight gain?

Both: All ssri are relatively equivalent in effectiveness and have similar side effect profiles. In my experience its hard to predict ahead of time and its hard to really do side by side comparison because of timeframes. Use a measure like the yboc and compare. Side effects may make your decision easier but work with your loved ones and treatment provider.

Patient Centered: Almost all of the ssri in the higher dosage ranges will help manage the manifestations of ocd. Which one works the best in a gven individual is dependent upon that individual. I try to focus on which one causes the least side effects in that individual as i increase the dosage. Then if side effects manageable, have i reached a level of control of ocd that is acceptable.

+/-: Lexapro (escitalopram) tends to be weight neutral. Luvox is often helpful for obsessions/ compulsions.
