I have been diagnoised with diverticulitis, with only a ct scan, they have said i need resection of my colon, this seems pretty drastic what should i do?

Second opinion: Diverticulitis often resolves with antibiotics and conservative measures. Surgery usually is reserved for recurrent bouts of diverticulitis, colon obstruction, or concern about underlying cancer. Second opinion regarding need for surgery is a good idea.

Possibly true: Depending on your symptoms, the findings on the CT, the findings on lab, etc.... surgical resection may indeed be indicated. Severe diverticulitis in a young person like you could be an indication that more (and maybe more severe) attacks are to follow. See a surgeon.
