A member asked:

I've got cancer and am having a mastectomy on monday. what can i expect?

Your life is saved: Congratulations on having the diagnosis made and your choosing the right option. If the cancer was found in a timely way -- i.e., you found it on monthly self-exam or it was found on mammography -- you have an 80% or so chance of a true cure. In the old days, the disease was uniformly fatal. Be glad -- being alive is more valuable than anything you may have lost.
