Hard to tell: It is hard to tell which lumps are benign and which ones are cancer on physical exam. It is best for women to perform monthly breast exams and to know what their breasts feel like. If there are lumps, i tell my patients "know your lumps". If there is a change in the exam on a monthly basis, then you need to see your doctor. The only way to know for sure if lump is cancer is through testing and biopsy.
