A member asked:

For how long does it take for gum disease to heal?

May be chronic: After the first phase of treatment (a deep cleaning) the dentist should recheck you about five weeks later and there should be an idea then about how you are doing. But periodontitis needs to be maintained or it will come back.

Depends: It depends on the severity and what treatments are involved. Your dentist or periodontist should address based on above!

Depends: Depends on extent and severity of the disease and the treatment required for repair. Often the damage done is permanent. Dentist and/or periodontist must decide on proper treatment for the type of gum disease that you have, and will need your cooperation in managing the healing process. Ask your dentist or periodontist about your particular case.
