A member asked:

Supposing you have short little toes rather than long finger like toes, does that decrease your chance for hammer toe?

I am not sure: The length of the digit matters. If there is an imbalance in muscle power i would think even short length of digit would potentially hammer. Having said that, with a longer lever arm, you do have more oppurtunity for a toe to hammer. I would give you if two feet with same muscle power the longer toe might hammer first.

May make difference: If tight shoe are a contributing factor, the size of the toes may make a difference.
