Brachy dactyly.: Shortened fingers or toes is also known as brachy dactyly. The shortness can be due to either abnormally short phalanges in either the fingers or toes or shortening of either the metacarpals or metatarsals. There are several different types of brachy dactyly depending on which digits and which bones in the digits are involved.
