A member asked:

If a doctor sticks a q tip in your vagina, for what is he or she testing?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Urinary incontinence: The Q-Tip® test is a simple diagnostic tool that assesses for hypermobility of the urethrovesical junction. If the angle between the urine pipe and the bladder isn't right or shifts easily (hypermobility), that can be a cause for women to leak urine under stress. To perform the Q-Tip test, a sterile, well-lubricated cotton-tipped swab is placed in to the urethra (not vagina).
