A member asked:

How can having my pancreas removed eafect my life?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Major organ: The pancreas is responsible for making digestive enzymes and insulin. Removing the pancreas causes the immediate problem of type 1 diabetes, and you would need Insulin treatment for life. There are pancreatic enzymes that one can take by mouth that do a reasonable job of replacing the enzymes lost by removing the pancreas.
