Not usually.: Major age range of legg perthes, idiopathic avascular necrosis, is 3-9yrs with with 4:1 male predominence.Usually the patient is examined every 3 to 6 mo. According to type of treatment, and aggressiveness of disease. Radiographs obtained four phases of disease, #1 increased density of femoral head, possible fx. #2 fragmentation resorption.#3 reossifcation#4 remodeling. Full process can take years.

Young boys: Legg Calve Perthes disease, or avascular necrosis of the femoral head, is a poorly understood condition of young boys 3-5 years old. By age 35 activity should have long since subsided and stabilized.
