Very different!: Veneers are thin shells of ceramic bonded to relatively healthy (usually front) teeth in order to change shape and color. Implants are basically artificial tooth roots made of titanium used to replace one or many missing teeth. They can be used to support crowns, bridges, or dentures.

Implants are a surgical means of replacing teeth that are lost or have been extracted for whatever reason. They both effect esthetic change but for very different reasons.

Completely different: As has been well answered by my colleague, implants are placed into the jaw to support a replacement tooth and veneers beautify the external layer of an existing tooth. See the image attached.

Apples To Oranges: The main difference between the veneer and implant is that a dental implant acts as a replacement for a tooth root, while a veneer partially covers the existing tooth for cosmetic purposes.

Apples and oranges: Veneers are typically thin porcelain facings which are applied to the tooth to change the color, shape or perceived position of the underlying tooth. Similar to "fake nails". Implants are titanium cylinders ("root forms") which are placed where there are missing teeth. They are the foundation upon which teeth, bridges and dentures con be built/supported/retained. Think of them as replacement roots.
